The Institute of Youth Development Practitioners – Ghana (IYDPG) offers membership to individuals and institutions committed to promoting excellence in youth development. Becoming a member means joining a vibrant network of professionals who are passionate about making a measurable impact in the lives of Ghana’s youth.
Whether you’re an aspiring practitioner, a seasoned professional, an academic, or an organization, there is a membership category for you, with exclusive benefits designed to support your journey and amplify your impact.
Who Can Join?
The IYDPG welcomes a wide range of individuals and institutions involved in youth development:
- Youth Development Practitioners: Social workers, counselors, NGOs, CSOs, master-craft persons, and community development officers.
- Youth-Led Organizations & Networks: Youth-focused groups promoting development, advocacy, and empowerment.
- Government Agencies: Ministries, departments, and agencies responsible for youth welfare and community development.
- Interested Individuals: Anyone passionate about youth development.
Membership Categories
We offer five membership categories, each represented by a distinct color and benefits:
- Honorary Member (Platinum – White):
Awarded to individuals with outstanding contributions to youth development. - Full Member (Diamond – Icy Blue):
For professionals with:- A degree or diploma in a relevant field.
- At least 2 years of experience in youth work.
- Completion of approved youth development modules.
- Institutional Member (Gold – Yellow):
For organizations, networks, and federations (formal or informal) working with youth. - Associate Member (Silver – Grey):
For individuals interested in youth development but not yet qualified for full membership. - Student Member (Bronze – Reddish Brown):
For students enrolled in youth-related courses. Student chapters may be formed in tertiary institutions.

Certification Programme
Become a Certified Youth Development Practitioner (CYDP) and gain recognition as an expert in the field.
To qualify, you must:
- Hold a recognized qualification (Master’s, Bachelor’s, Diploma, or NVTI Certificate).
- Have 2+ years of experience in youth work.
- Complete a one-week introductory module on Commonwealth Youth Development Work.

Governance Structure
1. Board of Directors:
Seven experienced professionals providing overall governance and strategy. Roles include:
- Chairperson
- Vice Chairperson
- Executive Board Member / Executive Director
2. Executive Director:
Responsible for the daily operations and implementation of board decisions.
3. National Executive Committee (45 Members):
Includes regional representatives and experts in youth development, policy, research, and finance. Meets twice annually.
How to Join
Step 1: Complete and submit the online [Membership Application Form]
Step 2: Pay the applicable fees (initial + annual subscription)
Step 3: Await confirmation and acceptance letter
Step 4: Participate in an orientation and official induction ceremony
Step 5: Get listed in our Membership Register
Membership Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must agree to and comply with the IYDPG Code of Ethics and Conduct
- Must meet the criteria for the selected membership category
Disqualification Criteria
You may not be eligible if:
- Under 18 years old
- Have unpaid membership dues
- Found legally unfit due to mental incapacity or fraud-related convictions
Maintaining Membership
- Annual fees must be paid at the beginning of each year.
- Certificates remain the property of IYDPG and require renewal.
Cessation and Restoration
Membership Ends If:
- A resignation letter is submitted
- The member passes away
- Annual dues go unpaid for 3 consecutive years
Restoration:
- Pay all arrears plus a 25% penalty to reinstate membership
